Everyone knows…
Nothing good comes after two…
Benson Churchmouse works as a night security guard in a downtown office park and spends his shifts escorting hapless scientists to their cars when asked and standing watch alongside his found work family over the many and varied scientific projects housed in the multi-building office park.
After escorting 'Spitz' to their car after a surprisingly late day for the scientist ended just after Daylight Savings ended, Benson and the enigmatic scientist become fast friends. Shortly after that, things in Benson's life begin to go awry; head injury, family death, Thanksgiving with the remaining family, head injury... possible hallucination... possible brain damage... possible betrayal...
With his scientist friend now missing, and all records at work denying 'Spitz' ever even worked there, Benson's world begins unraveling. Online accounts are suspended for vicious arguments in comments sections he doesn't remember visiting; things in his home moving between when he was sure he fell asleep and when his alarm goes off; and his last ditch effort to find out what happened to his friend goes incredibly off plan.
Did he make up his friend to cover his grief? Did his mind desperately latch onto a single encounter, twisting it to make him feel needed and appreciated? Did he up-end his entire life for nothing?
Or... is everyone in Benson's life lying to him?
